My Favorite Shortcut Cookies
Let me tell you about my Ritz cracker cookies. They are my secret for busy holidays. You get that sweet and salty magic without all the fuss. I still laugh at that. A fancy cookie from a simple cracker!
Why does this matter? Well, cooking should bring joy, not stress. These cookies prove that. A wonderful treat doesn’t need a long recipe. What is your favorite easy holiday treat? Tell me in the comments.
The Magic of Sweet and Salty
That first bite is a happy surprise. The salty cracker meets sweet chocolate and rich peanut butter. It just works. Your taste buds will dance. Doesn’t that sound fun?
Fun fact: The salty Ritz cracker was invented in 1934. Someone back then knew about good snacks! I think balancing flavors is a key kitchen lesson. It makes food exciting. That’s why we add that pinch of flaky salt at the end.
A Little Kitchen Story
My grandson helped me make these last year. He was in charge of the sprinkles. We had red and green sprinkles everywhere! On the cookies, the floor, his nose. It was the best mess.
That memory is part of the recipe now. For me, that’s what matters most. The treats we make together taste better. Do you have a helper in your kitchen? I bet you do.
Let’s Get Dipping
Melting the chocolate is easy. Just go slow and stir a lot. A fork is your best friend for dipping. Tap off the extra chocolate. Doesn’t that shiny coating look pretty?
You can use any nut butter you like. Almond butter is lovely too. The coconut oil just helps the chocolate stay smooth. But the wafers usually melt just fine without it. What sprinkles will you choose? Classic red and green or something wild?
Sharing the Goodness
Let the cookies set on the counter. The chocolate will get firm. Then pack them in a tin. They make a wonderful gift. A gift that says, “I thought of you, but I also wanted to have fun.”
Why does this matter? Because homemade food is a hug you can eat. It’s made with your own two hands. That feeling is special. I hope you try these. Will you make them for a party, or just for yourself? Both are perfect reasons.

My Favorite Christmas Crackers
Hello, my dear! Come sit at the table. Let’s make my silly, wonderful Christmas cookies. They are not fancy at all. They are just Ritz crackers, peanut butter, and white chocolate. But oh, they taste like a happy holiday hug. My grandson calls them “Christmas Crackers.” I still laugh at that. The salty cracker with sweet chocolate is perfect. Doesn’t that sound amazing? It is so simple, you can make them with your friends. Let me tell you how.
Step 1: First, get a baking sheet. Line it with parchment paper. Now, take out your Ritz crackers. Lay half of them flat-side up. They look like little waiting beds. This is the fun part. Scoop some peanut butter. Spread a nice thick layer on each cracker. I usually just eyeball it. You want enough so it peeks out the sides a tiny bit.
Step 2: Time to make sandwiches! Gently press another cracker on top. Put the rounded side up. Now you have a cute little sandwich. Be careful not to squeeze too hard. We don’t want the peanut butter to squish out everywhere. (My hard-learned tip: Chill these sandwiches for 10 minutes before dipping. It helps them stay together!)
Step 3: Let’s melt the chocolate. Put the wafers in a microwave bowl. Heat for one minute. Stir it well. Heat for another minute. Stir again until it’s smooth and shiny. You can add a tiny bit of coconut oil if you want. It makes the chocolate extra smooth. But the wafers usually melt just fine on their own.
Step 4: The messy, fun part! Dunk each sandwich into the white chocolate. I use a fork to lower it in. Coat it completely. Lift it out and gently tap the fork. This lets the extra chocolate drip off. Then place it back on the parchment paper. See the pretty white coat? Do you like lots of sprinkles or just a few? Share below!
Step 5: Now, decorate immediately! Shake on your festive sprinkles. Then add just a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt. The salt is the secret. It makes all the flavors sing. Let the chocolate set completely. This takes about an hour. Try to be patient. Then you can enjoy your delicious creation.
Cook Time: 1 hour (setting time)
Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
Yield: About 30 cookies

Three Fun Twists to Try
You can change these up so easily. It’s fun to play with flavors. Here are three ideas I love. Nut-Free Joy: Use sunflower seed butter instead of peanut butter. It’s just as tasty! Chocolate Lover’s Dream: Dip them in dark or milk chocolate wafers. Then use red and green sprinkles. Cookie Butter Magic: Swap the peanut butter for speculoos cookie spread. It tastes like gingerbread! Which one would you try first? Comment below!
Serving Them Up With Style
These cookies are great on a big holiday plate. Stack them up high. You can also put each one in a tiny paper cup. It looks so festive. They are very rich. Serve them with something light. Fresh clementine segments are perfect. So are crisp apple slices. For a drink, cold milk is always the best match. For the grown-ups, a sweet sparkling wine is lovely. Which would you choose tonight?

Keeping Your Christmas Cookies Fresh
These cookies are best enjoyed the same day. The crackers stay nice and crisp. You can store them in a single layer for two days.
I do not recommend freezing them. The chocolate can get spots. The crackers also lose their wonderful snap.
I learned this the hard way. I once made a big batch for a party. The party was postponed, so I froze them. They were soft and not as pretty later.
Batch cooking is great for these. You can make all the sandwiches first. Then, melt the chocolate and dip them all at once. This saves you so much time and mess.
Getting organized matters. It makes holiday cooking feel less stressful. You can actually enjoy your own party. Have you ever tried storing it this way? Share below!
Fixing Common Cookie Troubles
Sometimes the chocolate gets too thick. Just add a tiny bit of coconut oil. Stir it in until the chocolate is smooth again.
The peanut butter can squish out. Use just two teaspoons per cookie. Press the top cracker on gently but firmly.
I remember when my sprinkles just slid right off. You must add them right after dipping. The chocolate needs to be wet for them to stick.
Fixing small problems builds your kitchen confidence. You learn that mistakes are okay. Every cook has them, even grandmas!
Getting the details right also makes food taste better. A smooth coating and the right salt make magic. Which of these problems have you run into before?

Ritz Cracker Christmas Cookies: Ritz Cracker Christmas Cookie Recipe
Description
Festive, easy no-bake Christmas cookies made with Ritz crackers! A sweet & salty holiday treat perfect for gifting. Quick, kid-friendly, and delicious.
Ingredients
Instructions
- Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and lay out 1 sleeve of Ritz crackers with the flat side facing up.
- Spread ~2 tsp. of peanut butter on each cracker, I usually just eyeball it and make sure it’s a nice thick layer of peanut butter.
- Carefully place another cracker on top to create a sandwich, with the rounded side up. (2 crackers per cookie)
- Place the white chocolate melting wafers in a microwave safe bowl and heat until melted. I usually heat for 1 minute, stir and then heat for another minute and stir again. It should be melted and smooth. You can add coconut oil into your white chocolate to help with the melting, but if you have the wafers it’s not necessary.
- Once chocolate is melted and smooth, dunk each cookie into the white chocolate so it’s coated completely and set back on the parchment paper. I like to use a fork to dunk in the chocolate and be sure to tap excess melted chocolate off. Drizzle any extra white chocolate on top of cookies.
- Finish the cookies with sprinkles and flaky sea salt and repeat with the remaining cookies. Allow the chocolate to set up, then serve & enjoy!
